I have just come back from my appointment with the Outpatients Dept at the local hospital.
The orthopaedic surgeons are very pleased with the way everything has healed, and I have been sent home without a cast on the injured limb. The next step is to have physiotherapy, and the possibility has been raised that I may be able to return to work on apart time basis, while carrying out "light duties" (which in my case would mean sitting at a computer terminal).
Will keep everyon eposted as to progress!

Most of the ones who have called on me over the last six or seven years have given the impression of being only too pleased to have an excuse to " disengage the enemy, then execute an orderly withdrawal ".
Back when I actually believed in all that nonsense - including the idea that we were indeed carrying out a "Life Saving Work" - we were instructed not to take "No" for an answer.
(Hope this does not sound too much like some disgruntled old veteran complaining that "The New Guys aren't as good as We Was"!)

GETTING FIRED VS QUITTING
by TerryWalstrom ingetting fired vs quitting_________________________my specialties in life are great and many, but none more fabulous than the talent i've possessed for getting fired and/or quitting a job.how many jobs and careers i blazed through would spin your head!
suffice it to say, more than you've time or patience to hear.. there is something in my psychology and verbal arsenal too prone toward candid criticism!
i find myself blurting out what i really think before even i can stop myself.i worked for an art gallery owner once who had everything going for him except good sense.

An very interesting read!
In the circles that I have moved in, sales people have always been distrusted - whether they were hawking real estate, used cars, encyclopaedias, electronic security systems, high voltage switchgear, fruit and veg at the local market, or whatever. After reading this account, I am now reminded as to why this distrust is still so prevalent. As my uncle would say, they all seemed well endowed with plenty of "what the cat licked its tail with."
Mind you, this was a handy quality for a Maintenance Technician to have, when it came to explaining to the client why the said piece of equipment failed to live up to the expectations that the Sales Engineer assured them it was capable of delivering. ("If you can't Blind with Science, you can usually Baffle with Bull$h#t").
I have been working now for over 45 years, and have only once had my "employment terminated". They gave as their reason that I "was not the sort of person they wanted for the job." I fully concurred with that, and told them so. The "sort of person" they were seeking was a loud, arrogant, foul-mouthed backstabber, with a generous measure of @$$ licker thrown into the mix as well. I told them that, too!

So we ought to be organising a ceremony to mark the centenary of one of the not-so-great works of literature?
(Sorry guys, I am rather prone to understatement!)

TIL - 537 BC is in the Bible - and more
by berrygerry infrom an apologist site:.
http://thirdwitness.com/607_bce/www.jehovahsjudgment.co.uk/607/realissue.html.
hence, counting back from 537 bce (the year the bible says the jews returned home) for a full seventy years, we arrive at the year 607 bce.. .

Some good creative accounting at work here, together with the old principle of "Never Let The Facts Get In The Way of a Bloody Good Story!"
The real question is:
Why do Jehovah's Witnesses choose to accept 537BC and count backwards, instead of accepting 587BC and counting forward? When you put it like that, it does indeed come over as a thoroughly back-to-front way of doing things!

Does Anyone Know The "Real" Attitude That JWs Have Towards "Inactive Ones"?
by minimus indoes the rank and file or the elders view us as disassociated or disfellowshipped or simply "weak" or possibly a "prodigal son" type?.

In the same way they haven't contacted you, it sounds as though you haven't contact ed them.
That is quite correct - as far as it goes.
However, at the conclusion of our last meeting, this person voluntarily left further such meetings firmly in his "ball court", as the saying goes. His - not mine.

Last year, I was able to spend a pleasant afternoon with an old friend, who is now an elder in one of the local congregations. However, we have heard no more from he and his wife - probably as they have learned of my "official status" amongst the JWs!

Interpret John 1:1 by John 1:1.
by towerwatchman ininterpret john 1:1 by john 1:1. .
the greek language has the definite article which has approximately thirty variations, is translated into english as “the”, and points to an identifiable personality, someone we have prior knowledge of.
but the greek language has no indefinite article corresponding to the english “a”, or “an”.

when the noun lacks the definite article it is up to the translator to translate definite or indefinite depending on the context.
And accurately performing that "translation" requires more than just a superficial understanding of Koine Greek grammar and its nuances. Definitely not for the amatuer to attempt! (or some college dropout such as FW Franz).
